The first thing I’d like to do is tell you my story so far. I was born in Canada and lived there until I was 18. I was always confident that I was attractive, but never happy with my body, my stomach especially. When I was 18 I weighed in at around 60 kg, and was an active member of the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets where I was involved in lots of physical activates. I was on the swim team, went of long canoe trips, and lots of morning exercise during the summers. On top of that, I walked EVERYWHERE, in excess of 5 km a day. I was very fit (could punch out 60 push-ups without stopping easily), but I took this for granted. I just assumed I would stay this fit, since it felt like I hadn’t worked to get to this level of fitness in the first place. Boy was I wrong.
This is the body I wasn’t happy with at 18
At 18 my family moved to Australia and I started university. I stopped exercising all together, apart from the 4 km I was walking every day to university and back. Within two years I was pushing 75 kg and my confidence went down the drain. I’m now 25, and weighing in at 80 kg. Up until a month ago I was driving to work and sitting in an office all day, then driving home, eating dinner, and off to bed. On top of this, I have a major sweet tooth. Getting my chocolate fix regularly, mixed with the convenience of KFC or McDonald’s take away, you can see how I’ve put this weight on.
This is me a couple weekends ago
However, I’m now on Week 2 (after completing the 4 weeks pre-training) of Kayla Itsines Bikini Body Guide. This requires three resistance training workouts per week. I’m also walking a total of 5 km Monday-Friday before/ after work. Sadly though I can’t afford the healthy food I would like to be eating, so instead of starving myself, I’m still eating my regular unhealthy food.
I’ve seen a difference in my body since starting the BBG, which is motivating, although no difference in the scales yet. This blog is all about my journey through the BBG and any other tips and tricks I might pick up along the way! Stay tuned for a review on the Kayla Itsines BBG Pre-Training!
