Staying Active and Healthy While Camping

With Easter Only 3 weeks away, it’s time to start making plans! One of the Easter favourites is camping, which means four days of sitting around the fire, continuously cooking your next meal, with a beer by your side. So how do you plan to stay active and healthy over your Easter camping trip?

Healthy Meal Ideas

Try wrapping meat and veggies in tin foil and placing on hot coals to cook. This eliminates the need to use oil.

Mexican Omelette – Omelette with salsa

Chicken Caesar Salad/ Wraps

Grilled Chicken Burgers with tomato and lettuce

Chicken/ Tofu/ Prawn and vegetable shish kebabs

Grilled Crab and salad – Bonus if you caught the crab!

Grilled Steak with Grilled carrot, sweet potato, and zucchini

Beef Stew with assorted veggies

Grilled fish with lemon, corn on the cob, and sweet potato fries

Silverside with boiled potato and grilled vegetables

Veggies and Hummus or Tzatziki

Assorted Fruit

Pre-made raw vegan cake or slice – Like a caramel slice, or cheesecake (recipes are easily found online)

Homemade Apple Sauce – peel and core apple, wrap with cinnamon in tin foil, and throw in the fire until cooked!

Staying Active

Saying active while camping is easier than you may think. Here’s some ideas of ways to get your exercise!

Collect and chop fire wood

Run on the beach

Go for a hike

Workout on the beach – nothing better than the ocean breeze to cool you down!

Swim and play in the waves

Rock climbing/ abseiling (only if you’re qualified to do so)

I hope some of these ideas help you to stay active and healthy during your camping trip, and prevent you from coming bloated and tired! Happy Camping!
