I’m a huge fan of looking at photos of super fit women for motivation to work out and eat well. And while this does work for me, when I’m really struggling to keep going, these hot models are not who I turn to.
There are two people in my life that have absolutely transformed themselves, and they are the ones I look to for inspiration when I need it most.
The first is a girl I grew up with. I won’t post her name here, but she is one of the most inspiring. She came from an obese family, and even as a toddler, was very overweight. In the last 10 years though, she has worked so hard, and lost so much weight. She is extremely fit and healthy, and from the pictures she posts on Facebook, is starting to have defined abs! She has gone against everything that she learned growing up, against her instincts, and through hard work and patience, has transformed into a fit, healthy, beautiful woman! I am so proud of her, and so inspired by her.
My mother is my other huge inspiration. My memories of her growing up are those of playing in the yard, baking yummy treats, and lots of love and support. She was not a runner, or a fitness fanatic, but now, in her 50’s, she’s done the almost impossible. She’s trained herself to run 5km, and does so now several times a week! Now that I’m training myself to run 5km, when I’m struggling on the treadmill, I think of my mom, and the fact that she’d be lapping me!
So thank-you you two, for inspiring me to do and be better, and for showing me that the impossible, is possible, you just have to put your mind to it and make it happen!
